Dr. Bikdeli is a clinician-investigator, with training in cardiology, advanced training in vascular medicine, and a particular interest in thrombotic disorders and antithrombotic therapy. After graduation from medical school, Dr. Bikdeli completed a postdoctoral research fellowship at Yale/YNHH Center for Outcomes Research and Evaluation (CORE). He stayed at Yale to complete Internal Medicine residency training and continued his Cardiovascular Disease fellowship at New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University, where he also completed an NIH T-32 research fellowship and received a Master of Science in Patient-Oriented Research. Dr. Bikdeli completed an Advanced Vascular Medicine fellowship at Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH)/Harvard Medical School. Dr. Bikdeli’s research has been funded by the NIH, the American Heart Association, and BWH. He has contributed to over 180 publications in journals including Lancet, JAMA, Circulation, Journal of the American College of Cardiology, the British Medical Journal, and others. Dr. Bikdeli was the lead author of two international consensus documents related to thrombosis in COVID-19 and is involved in several clinical trials and observational studies for thrombotic diseases.
